40 years of Abortion-on-demand: is it a legitimate “Choice?”

January 22 marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court’s stamp of approval for the murder of over 55 million babies in America since January 1973. This means that, absent Roe v. Wade, there would be an additional 30-million adult taxpayers by now in the U.S. labor force to ease the stress on Social Security. Go figure.

In the Bible, 40 is frequently associated with “trouble,” “hardship” or “disaster.” It rained 40 days and nights at the Flood in Noah’s time. Genesis 7:4 Moses was on Mt. Sinai 40 days and nights to receive the Ten Commandments. Exodus 24:18 The 12 spies searched the land of Canaan 40 days and nights (Numbers 13:25), then, because of their unbelief, wandered 40 years in the wilderness. Numbers 14:33, 34 Goliath challenged Israel 40 days before David rocked him. 1 Samuel 17:16 God gave Nineveh 40 days to repent. Jonah 3:4 Jesus fasted and was tempted by the devil in the wilderness 40 days and nights. Luke 4:2 You get the picture.

A Biblical generation is 40 years. Numbers 32:13 & Hebrews 3:8-10 We were overseas in 1973 when Roe v. Wade became law. I wrote at the time, The generation that has legalized taking life at the beginning (while in the womb) will, later on, be the first generation to become victims of mandatory euthanasia. “O that will never happen in America!” you say? Please read the fine print in Obamacare, and remember whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” If we sow death at the beginning of life’s cycle by abortion, then be prepared to get out of Dodge and take to the hills when you’re old.

The erosion of personal responsibility in America has finally overtaken us. The Welfare State has relieved us of the burdens we traditionally labored under. Basic sustenance has been supplemented by food stamps, rent subsidies, unemployment insurance, and education of our children, medical care, retirement and even personal safety. In some cities, citizens are prohibited from carrying arms, and expect the police to protect them.

Over the last four decades we have succumbed to the siren song of tolerance.  We have tolerated things that God plainly tells us are an abomination to Him, such as the willful slaughter of our unborn children – children which are an inheritance from the LORD.

Those who believe in a ‘right’ of abortion must believe that a person has a right to reject complete responsibility for his or her own acts even when that ‘choice’ necessitates the killing of one’s own flesh and blood. It’s not just suicidal terrorists that have convoluted thinking. This leads inevitably to the acceptance of any offer by the state to relieve them of other less significant responsibilities and to permit the state to take whatever steps are necessary to do so, despite the consequences for others. This chain of events makes one vulnerable to be a subject [slave] of the modern state.
