A little over a year ago, I had the privilege of preaching at the annual KwaSizabantu Youth Conference in June 2008. For me, it was one of the most blessed preaching experiences I’ve ever had. The Lord anointed me and lifted me out of myself to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ with clarity and power. Many souls came to Christ – and we give all the praise and glory to our Lord above!

Amazingly, 1 year later I lay in a hospital room in Mesa, Arizona awaiting test results to determine whether I had a cancerous mass in my lower left lung. You know the rest of the story – I am a cancer survivor because our Lord was gracious in answering your prayers!

There are slides of the conference below entitled, “KSB Youth Conference – 2008” that you can click on to take you to that page. My friend, Jeff, tells me that the song that goes with the slides is sung by brother and sister team (Todd Smith & Nicol Sponberg) who grew up in Zaire, Africa with their missionary parents. The phrase “Bika Mono Ve” which is sung at the start means “Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior” and is so appropriate for the One Who took me from the mountaintop in June 2008 to the valley of the shadow of death in June 2009.

I hope that in seeing these slides, you will be blessed not only by the pictures of this event – but blessed by a hymn (“It Is Well With My Soul“) that speaks of my frame of mind in the days of my cancer. Praise God! It is well with our souls!
